This week's freebie from The 1937 Flood

This week's freebie features a wonderful old fiddle tune with a wonderful old legend.

No one knows for sure, but tradition has it that the "Rachel" in the name of this tune refers to Rachel Jackson, beloved wife of President Andrew Jackson. As fiddler Joe Dobbs says, any woman who inspires a duel should have at least one song named for her.

Here Joe and Doug Chaffin end the evening by putting Rachel through her paces. Click here to hear the tune.

Finally, remember that the tunes from the jam sessions make up our weekly Flood podcasts. You can subscribe for free and get the music automatically delivered to your computer each Thursday. For details on that, click here.
